THE SPIRIT OF COZUMEL

At the moment that I took this picture I wasn't aware of the powerful message that it contained. It was only that night, while I was reviewing the pictures on my computer, that it struck me. And when it did I was floored. Not only by the color scheme and the beautiful contrast of the colors of the sunset, the monument, the ocean and the cruise ship sailing into the distance, but by the message, this truly was the Spirit of Cozumel standing strong after Wilma. The Mayan warrior solidly on his feet, family at his side totally safe, unbreakable, determined, ready to host tomorrow’s visitors.

I truly have no aspirations to fame, or wealth for that matter, I would like to live my life simply and unpretentiously, however I do believe that this image is historic and that it will be around in one way or another for along time. I appreciate all of you out there who have expressed similar feelings about the image. We are all brought together by our love for Cozumel. We are all Cozumel’s family, and I believe that this image speaks from the Heart of Cozumel.
